Physics

A lot of people think Physics is abstract, but Physics underlies everything we experience and so is a very real and practical science. We study Physics because we want to learn how the world really works. Physics identifies universal laws that must be understood in order to create things that really work. Nature kind of automatically gives us things that are both beautiful and that work, and humans given free will try to duplicate and improve on what nature gives us through technology.

As technology evolves we learn to create methods and processes that allow us to do what nature does naturally, to mimic or even improve on nature. One of those methods is something called the engineering design process, where we learn that science, engineering, and technology are all related and depend on each other in a cycle of discovery, application, and improvement.

Art allows us to create beautiful things. Physics gives us the ability to combine that beauty with reality in a process typically called engineering design. Engineering design gives us products that have the potential to improve or simplify our lives. Without an understanding of Physics, our modern world could not exist.
